About Money in Real Life

Most people don’t struggle with money because they don’t earn enough.

They struggle because of habits, emotions, pressure, and decisions made every single day without thinking.

Money in Real Life is not about stock tips or market predictions. It is about how money actually behaves in everyday life, and why it often feels harder than it should.

Here, we talk about:

  • saving that actually sticks

  • spending habits that quietly drain wealth

  • lifestyle inflation that no one notices until it’s too late

  • debt that feels normal but builds pressure over time

  • fear and hesitation around investing

  • and the psychology behind everyday financial decisions

If you enjoy understanding the behaviour behind money, you will love seeing how it all connects to the bigger picture too. Every Wednesday and Saturday, I break down markets, inflation, RBI moves, and real opportunities in my other publication - The Finance Lens. It’s a simple, clutter-free way to stay ahead without drowning in noise.

About me

I am Smita. I write about finance and the economy in simple, clear terms, but this publication focuses on something closer to real life: how people actually think and behave with money.

I completed my MS in Finance and have spent more than 16 years working across financial research and analysis. Over the years, one pattern has stood out to me again and again:

Most financial problems are not technical problems.
They are behavioural problems.

And that’s what I want to talk about here.

This space is my attempt to break money behaviour into something practical, relatable, and easy to understand, so that anyone, no matter their background, can feel more confident about their financial life.
